Volunteers for Peace Workcamp
For the second year in a row, the Concord UU Church is hosting a workcamp for Volunteers for Peace. The Vermont based non-profit Volunteers for Peace has organized International Voluntary Service Exchanges for over 25 years. As part of a VFP International Service Project, nearly a dozen college-age youth from around the world will live together at the church, sharing chores and social time, work together on community projects and engage in fun and educational local activities from July 5 -19.

Free Gift Store for Limited Income Kids
On Thursday, December 20th, 2007, UU volunteers will be transporting gently used items donated by the congregation and Emerson Preschool families to the Concord Boys & Girls Club. With the guidance of the Boys & Girls Club middle school-aged leadership team, children will select gifts for free for their family members. UU volunteers will wrap the gifts for them to take home for holiday gift giving.

Department of Peace Presentation

The Social Justice Committee invites everyone to learn about the movement to create a United States Cabinet level Department of Peace. The NH Department of Peace campaign is an effort to make peace and nonviolence an organizing principle of our society. There will be a media presentation, discussion and handouts. All welcome.

A workshop for same-sex couples considering a civil union

What does the Civil Union law mean for you?
Attorney Michele Granda of Gay & Lesbian Advocates and Defenders will explain the legal protections provided by civil union and the nuts and bolts of getting one, as well as broader issues such as a civil union's impact on children, health insurance considerations, moving to another state, and dissolving a civil union.
