Coming of Age
After completing the Our Whole Lives program as seventh and eighth graders, we encourage those children to continue their journey to adulthood in the Coming of Age program. In three overnights at the church, we focus on what it means to become a participating member of the congregation. Between overnights, the youth engage in a wide range of activities related to congregational life, from worship to volunteering to committees to community outreach. Participants are encouraged to articulate their own spiritual ideas and explore spiritual practices, working with mentors from the congregation. The program culminates with a Unitarian Universalist heritage trip to Boston and a youth-led worship service in the spring. Because our spiritual lives are always changing and growing as we experience new things, this program is open to all high school students.
