Cultural no-nos help to avoid chaos and harm. Taboos create group identity and cohesion. Social prohibitions reinforce power relationships. And the things we are not talking about often relate to our most intimate and sacred experiences. The power and potential of psychedelics to have “mystical-type experiences having substantial and sustained personal meaning and spiritual significance” is one of those taboos we have culturally relegated to the underground since the 1960s. Michael Pollan in his book “How to Change Your Mind” unlocks this taboo for all of us, if we are willing to talk about it.
Our first Sunday drop-in covenant group will focus on our monthly theme of “Taboo.” All are invited to participate. Rev. Lyn Marshall will facilitate.
