Resisting Contempt

Contempt has become an addiction in our attitudes towards those on the other side, those who don’t share our values, those who don’t get that we are right and they are wrong.  And it has become tough to quit.  Arthur C. Brooks in his book “Love Your Enemies” makes the convincing case that contempt and disdain are the root cause of much of what is dysfunctional in US society right now.  It deserves to be disrupted and resisted regardless of how justified the contempt may seem in the moment.  We all have a role to play.
